Firefly 2 Reviews - What Is It?
WARNING: DO NOT USE Firefly 2 Until You Read This Review!
Is it a Scam? Does It Really Work?
Firefly2 is claimed to be the fastest and most efficient vaporizer in the world. It can be used for herbs and concentrates. Recently it was declared by Gizmodo to be the "best overall vaporizer". The product was created by a former Apple design manager. It has an ability to heat up in just three seconds, which allows you to enjoy nice flavors and active ingredients as soon as they are released. The advanced technology of Firefly2 is intuitive and user friendly, so that Newsweek called it the "iPhone of Vaporizers". According to Business Insider, any person could pick it up and use it easily. The product comes with two batteries for better portability, a companion IOS and Android app, as well as a glass chamber and glass vapor path to simplify the process of cleaning.
The Firefly 2 was created by the company called Firefly Vapor. It was founded in San Francisco in 2012. The heat up time is what differentiates Firefly 2 from other vaporizers. You can start a session with this device in just 3-5 seconds. This model of Firefly, just like the original one, requires low maintenance. This unit has low upkeep when compared to other portables available on the market. However, the using is associated with many complaints about the overall size, battery life, and weight. At the same time, the manufacturer of the Firefly2 promises the clean tasting portable convection vaporizer. This unit is aid to be ideal for people who are looking for a perfect taste with a smooth cool temp. It features almost instant on demand heat up which makes it a good choice for people who prefer to split bowls into many different sessions or like a quick session. It is high time to take a look at the real customers' reviews left online.
Customer Reviews - Does Firefly 2 Really Work?
The manufacturer of this device claims that it features portability and discreetness. In fact, the Firefly 2 is 55% lighter and 33% smaller than the original Firefly. The unit is similar in weight and size to the Air and Crafty vaporizers. All of these units switched from a stainless steel body to a magnesium alloy body. The FF2 is not the most discreet device of its kind; however, it provides instant heat up and minimal smell when compared to other portable vaporizers. The product comes with two batteries which is cool since few vapes come with more than one battery. The cleaning kit that comes with the unit includes a multi-sided brush, two plastic toothpick/sword tools, and a few isopropyl alcohol wipes. There are also concentrate pads and a usb charging dock. The Firefly 2 uses a borosilicate glass bowl and a 50-watt heater. It offers six heat settings five of which are designed for dry herbs and one setting is meant for concentrates. The device is said to be able to reach 400F (204C) in three seconds and 420F (215C) in five seconds.
There are not so many customer reviews about the product online. While some buyers are satisfied with their purchase, others are not. What users like is that the glass bowl transfers little heat, so that one can easily place their finger in the chamber and touch the glass side or the metal bottom when the concentrate temperature is 500F or 260C. One can hold their finger about 10 seconds before it starts getting warm. This is the reason for efficiency of this device at breaking single bowls into many sessions. It only heats the herbs while you are drawing. The product uses larger air intakes and 55 hole pattern in the bowl's bottom for better airflow (unlike the original unit). However, the new Firefly 2 glows when it first reaches high temperature. You can also easily cover the glow with your hand when using it discreetly in the dark.
Another positive feature is that the Firefly2 uses an application available for both Android and iOS which connects to the device through Bluetooth. This app allows checking battery life, as well as changing temperatures, and some settings on the unit. The device has five temperature settings for dry herb 340, 360, 380, 400, 420 Fahrenheit (171, 182, 193, 204, 215 Celcius). There is also one setting for concentrates 500F or 260C. However, most people are not pleased with cleaning and maintenance of the unit. It will get a lot of buildup on the window. You won't need to replace or clean any screen in the bowl. You are recommended to apply some ISO propyl alcohol on a paper towel and wipe out the bowl thoroughly. Wipe down the vapor path on the lid and boom, and the body. If there is too much buildup on the lid, you will notice performance degradation. This may cause the unit seal. The battery life on the unit is a drawback because it is quite short. Some units may have manufacturing quality problems which make a number of batteries degrade faster than expected.
Some people who have bought Firefly2 report that it has a too high price. The device is very slippery, which makes the process of cleaning really hard. The unit may slip out of your hand, since there is no grip on the outside. The batteries in the unit are very unusual of a weird square shape. One woman writes in her review that the unit is a complete pain the butt to maintain and clean. She has had it for just a month and its mouth piece is already clogged. The tiny holes inside a tiny opening are really hard to clean. There better products out there for a lower price. You can buy a superior product for $100. Let us take a look at the actual customers' reviews available online.
"I own many vaporizers and I can easily characterize any of them. To tell you the truth, I hate my Firefly 2. Its battery dies too fast, the buttons are awful, the position I need to hold it is shit. There is always a darker spot at the bottom, the herbs get sucked against the glass and you do not see the herbs anymore. Sometimes I think it is closed but there is a small gasp which draws air. The glass vaporway gets junked up fast. With concentrate the battery life is shorter. I have my favorite vapors."
"Firefly2 is garbage for the price it costs. This product is worth no more than $50-100 but still I would give it three or four stars. I have a Pulsar APX that cost me $70 and it performs better than the Firefly 2 in everything except air flow. I am not satisfied with their customer service the reps of which keep telling you that you are not using the unit correctly. I expected that a vaporizer for $350 would perform much better. I should have saved $100 and bought the Arizer Solo 2. Do not believe the hype."
"I had a hard time getting the firefly 2 to turn on. I hold the two sensors but nothing happened. I repeated the procedure several times and suddenly it started working. I don't understand how the sensors work - from pressure or body heat? By the way, my apartment doesn't allow smoking but this unit creates a specific "smoke smell". I cannot recommend this vaporizer to anyone."
My Final Summary
The Firefly 2 is associated with a number of drawbacks. The first one is the vapor quality. The flavor and smoothness is second to none. The price for this unit is too unjustifiable. Straight out of the box, you will see that there is no way to charge the additional battery. Probably, the only way to charge the batteries is on the charging dock within the device. The next disadvantage is the charging dock. You cannot lock or secure the Firefly 2 to the charging dock. It can be a problem if you need to charge the unit outside of the house. The device requires special cleaning and maintenance. The next drawback is the plastic mouthpiece. The Battery cover leaves much to be desired. It is very cheap. The Firefly 2 comes with a two-year manufacturer warranty. Overall, the Firefly 2 is not a good choice, thus, I cannot recommend it to usage.
